Surrey Energy Economics Centre (SEEC)

PG Programme

The department of economics has a vibrant postgraduate community with many students on the modular MSc programme and/or studying for a MPhil or PhD. One stream of the MSc programme which has been running for over twenty years is the MSc in Energy Economics and Policy. This course attracts a core of dedicated energy enthusiasts keen to study the importance and impact of economics on the energy scene. Although this is administered within the department's modular MSc structure senior members of SEEC oversee both the design and delivery of the degree and the supervision of the energy research undertaken by the students during the dissertation.

SEEC also attracts a large proportion of the department's PGR students, with many studying for a MPhil or PhD in the energy area. A number of the energy research students move onto the PGR programme in energy economics after completing their MSC in Energy Economics and Policy but many also come in directly, where they show they have the required research training.

All postgraduate students in Energy Economics automatically become members of SEEC and are encouraged to participate in all activities, such as workshops and seminars during their time at the University of Surrey - thus ensuring that all the energy students have an excellent experience while studying at SEEC. Moreover, many past students who have successfully completed their MSc and/or PhD in energy economics have gone on to very interesting and rewarding careers, both in academia and energy industries across the world.
